I just woke up...IN GEORGIA!!! An interesting wake-up call, too: a parked delivery truck right outside my hotel window blaring Georgian pop--not altogether a bad introduction to the day, I suppose.
Granted, I've been out of the country a little while now, but somehow, after getting maybe an hour of sleep in about 32 hours (yes, I counted), it was a bit of a blur when I got in this morning to the hotel.
The flights weren't bad, though, despite my massive amount of carry-on baggage to lug around. The six-hour layover in Constantinople wasn't bad either--by that point, a bunch of us volunteers had found each other, and spent the time talking about the program and so forth. All in all, things are going well--I'm glad I did the medical tests at home, though, or I could have been getting up a few hours ago to do them (i.e., only a few hours after we got into the hotel at five AM). As it is, it's around noon or one at the moment here (depending on if I got the time zone right or not), so around two in the morning or so at home--Washington State, for me. Weirdest aspect of the trip so far, at least for me: a ten-hour flight that gained eight time zones. The people that slept on the plane (myself not included, sadly) woke up about three hours before sunset--that was certainly one of the shortest days of my life.
My birthday gift this year was getting on a place out of Seattle to go to Georgia--so far, I love it.
